Biography.

I began my art education in the 1980s as a 16-year-old on a Youth Training Scheme in London, producing paste-up art work. I then embarked on a traditional art school education culminating in a First Class Degree in Illustration at Camberwell School of Arts and Crafts in London.
In the early ‘90s I met my partner, the poet Tim Ellis, with whom I often collaborate producing books. I relocated to Yorkshire and worked for four years designing sweet packaging for a souvenir fudge manufacturer in Harrogate.
I’ve worked freelance, with illustrations appearing in The Spectator, Radio Times and Observer magazines. I have exhibited work at the Mercer Art Gallery in Harrogate, and two of my works have been purchased by Harrogate Borough Council as part of the Harrogate Fine Art Permanent Collection. At the moment I am working with Tim on a children's book about British birds.
Birds are a continuous source of inspiration for me, particularly budgerigars for which I have had a life-long obsession. I alwayswork from my imagination and memory, conjuring up humorous situations involving people and animals.
